Types of Childcare
Daily Nanny
Comes to your home to care for your children. Is generally responsible for only the nursery duties within your home such as your children’s laundry and home cooked meals, but will on occasion take on other tasks with prior agreement.
Live in Nanny
Lives with you and your family for all or part of the week, usually has a slight reduction in salary to cover household bills.
Before & After School Nanny
Comes to your home to help your children get ready for school and takes them there. Will also collect your children from school at the end of the day and assist them with homework, feed them, bathe them and entertain them until you take over.
Nanny Housekeeper
As well as caring for your children will take on a housekeeper role whilst your children are at school or nursery.
Junior Nanny
A candidate who is newly qualified or with little experience.
Costs involved
SalarY
A salary can be negotiated by both parties before contracts are exchanged. We strongly recommend this is a gross figure rather than net so you know your exact outgoings and will not be obliged to pay a higher tax or pension rate.

May be due dependent on your employees salary.
Employers Liability Insurance
The vast majority of homes will already be covered as almost all ‘Household Contents’ insurance policies include cover for domestic workers such as housekeepers or nannies. This detail is usually in the small print so it’s a good idea to check with your insurance company that you are covered for up to £5 million before you become an employer.
PAYE
Although this can be managed by you it can become a bit of a minefield if it’s not your area of expertise. Having someone take care of all of your PAYE needs and communications with HMRC can cost as little as £12 per month including VAT.
