BRAND NEW | INFANT NANNY OPPORTUNITY | CAMBRIDGE, CB3 | UP TO £33,280 GPA
BRAND NEW | PERMANENT DAILY NANNY OPPORTUNITY | CAMBRIDGE, CB3 | NOVEMBER 2026 START | UP TO £20 GROSS P/H
A warm, professional and welcoming family based in Cambridge is seeking an experienced, nurturing and proactive Daily Nanny to provide exceptional care for their baby son on a variable-hours basis, Monday to Friday, averaging approximately 32 hours per week across the year.
This is a wonderful long-term opportunity for a dedicated nanny who is passionate about caring for babies and young toddlers and supporting their earliest developmental milestones. The family are looking for someone kind, attentive and organised who will provide a safe, stimulating and loving environment, whilst becoming a trusted and valued part of their family life. Both parents are professionals, with Mum working as a doctor and preparing to return to work following maternity leave.
Children: The role involves caring for one delightful little boy who will be approximately 14 months old when the position commences. He is described as affectionate, gentle and sensitive, whilst also being active, energetic and curious. He particularly enjoys music and singing and is at an exciting stage of exploring the world around him. The family are keen to find a nanny who will nurture his individual personality and support his development through engaging, age-appropriate play and enriching daily experiences.
The Role: This is a sole-charge, live-out position centred around providing exceptional care for one young child, alongside child-related household support. The successful candidate will follow the family’s established feeding, sleeping and daily routines whilst creating a warm and stimulating environment that encourages confidence, independence and exploration. The role offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy outdoor adventures, local parks, playgroups, libraries, soft play and other enriching activities.
Core Duties: Childcare will remain the priority throughout the day. Responsibilities will include supporting language and communication through conversation, reading, music and singing, encouraging independent play, preparing healthy and age-appropriate meals and snacks, managing nap routines, assisting with dressing and nappy changes, supporting developmental milestones and maintaining excellent hygiene standards.
The nanny will organise regular outings and activities, ensuring the week is varied, stimulating and tailored to his interests and stage of development, with regular opportunities for socialisation and interaction with other children of a similar age.
They will also be responsible for keeping the nursery and play areas clean and organised, washing and putting away his clothing and bedding, cleaning bottles, cups and feeding equipment, preparing meals for him, rotating toys and books and ensuring his belongings remain clean and well maintained.
The successful candidate will communicate openly with the parents, providing regular updates regarding meals, naps, activities and development, whilst working collaboratively with them to maintain consistent routines and parenting approaches.
Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate will be warm, patient and highly organised, with a genuine passion for caring for babies and young toddlers. They will be confident working independently, proactive in their approach, comfortable taking a child out and about and communicate well with professional parents.
A formal childcare qualification is not essential. However, applicants should have a minimum of 3–5 years’ specific professional nannying experience caring for infants and young toddlers within a private household. Nursery or childminding experience alone will not be considered sufficient.
The successful candidate must also hold, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS Certificate, Paediatric First Aid training and provide at least two recent, contactable references, together with the right to work in the UK.
A clean, full UK driving licence and own roadworthy vehicle are essential for local outings. Parking will be provided at the family home.
Both parents may occasionally work from home, so the nanny should be comfortable working alongside professional parents whilst maintaining a confident, discreet and professional sole-charge approach.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, averaging approximately 32 hours per week across the year. With adequate notice the family’s requirements will vary from week to week, with some weeks being approximately four days of eight hours and others considerably shorter, potentially around three days of four hours.
The family are committed to providing excellent forward planning around the nanny’s working hours:
- Approximately five times per year, Mum will undertake a five-day hospital on-call commitment, when the nanny may be required from approximately 7:30am–6:30pm, Monday to Friday. These longer weeks will be confirmed at least three months in advance, with the family able to provide the dates for the full year ahead. For example, the longer weeks falling between 1 April and 31 March can be confirmed by 1 January.
- For all other shorter/standard working weeks, the family will provide a minimum of six weeks’ advance notice. These hours will be confirmed on a rolling three-month basis — for example, the working hours for April to June would be confirmed by 15 February.
This approach provides the nanny with excellent visibility of their working pattern and plenty of opportunity to plan personal commitments and holidays in advance, whilst allowing the family the flexibility they require throughout the year.
The family are therefore seeking a nanny who is comfortable with a varied working pattern and able to offer a degree of flexibility.
Start Date: Ideally 16th November 2026, allowing for a settling-in period ahead of Mum’s return to work on 30th November. The latest possible start date would be 23rd November 2026.
Salary: Up to £20 gross per hour, depending on experience and suitability. Approximately £33,280 gross per annum based on an average of 32 hours per week.
This is a fantastic long-term opportunity for an experienced infant nanny seeking a rewarding position with a warm, professional family who are committed to providing the very best start in life for their son.
