Part-Time Nanny / Housekeeper – IP6 (Barking) | Live-Out | Driver Essential | Family Assistant Role | Up to £17 Gross per Hour

A warm, welcoming, and professional family based in Ipswich, IP6 8HT is seeking an experienced, proactive, and highly reliable part-time nanny / housekeeper to provide attentive after-school care for their two school-aged children, alongside helping to keep the family home running smoothly.

This is a lovely long-term opportunity for a capable and organised nanny who enjoys a varied role, balancing childcare with household support, and who can become a valued and trusted part of family life.

The family are looking for someone kind, energetic and dependable, with a positive approach and the confidence to manage after-school routines independently while maintaining a calm and happy home environment.

The Children

• Boy, age 11 – A bright and thoughtful boy who enjoys nature, animals, gaming, reading, and drawing.

• Girl, age 7 – A fun and creative little girl who loves arts & crafts, games, reading, and fashion.

Responsibilities will include:

• School pick-ups

• Taking the children to and from after-school clubs

• Supporting homework and encouraging independence

• Preparing healthy meals for the children

• Supporting the children in tidying up after themselves

• Dog walking

• General household cleaning and tidying

• Ironing

• Changing beds and laundry support

• Helping maintain an organised and well-run family home

The role would suit a nanny who is warm, practical, and hands-on, with excellent organisational skills and a genuine enjoyment of supporting busy family life.

Working Hours

The family are flexible for the right candidate, with a preference for:

Term time (39 weeks) – Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday,11:00am – 7:00pm (24 hrs. p/w)

School holidays (13 weeks) – flexible, but 2 days 8.00am-6.00pm works well with the current nanny (20 hrs. p/w)

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• A warm, friendly, and dependable nature

• Experience caring for school-aged children

• Good communication skills and a calm manner

• Confidence managing routines independently

• A practical and proactive attitude toward household duties

• The flexibility to stay 2-3 hours later one evening approx. every 6 weeks as paid overtime, with appropriate notice given.

Requirements

• Right to work in the UK

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)

• Minimum of two excellent, checkable references

• Paediatric First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)

• Confident and safe driver with own roadworthy vehicle available for work use

Salary

Up to £17 gross per hour / £20,332 gross per annum depending on experience, qualifications and ours agreed.

HOW TO APPLY

You must have an enhanced DBS on the Gov. update system or be willing to apply for one immediately.

You must have a minimum of two immediately contactable previous employer references.

You must have an up-to-date paediatric first aid certificate or be willing to complete one.

The successful candidate will have at least 2 years previous professional experience of caring for children of a similar ages.

A formal childcare qualification is not essential for this position; it is more important that the Nanny is a good match personality wise.
