A warm, welcoming and professional family based in Cambridge is seeking an experienced and nurturing nanny to care for their two young children aged 4 and 2, 2 days per week.
This is a wonderful long-term opportunity for a kind, proactive, and engaging nanny who genuinely enjoys supporting young children’s development through play, creativity, and outdoor exploration. The family are looking for somebody kind, calm and energetic who will become a valued and trusted part of their family life. They live in a beautiful Victorian home in north Cambridge. Both parents work in professional careers and are warm, respectful and appreciative employers.
Children: The children are bright, curious, and affectionate, with lovely temperaments and a close sibling bond. Their daughter has lots of energy and enjoys reading, swimming, singing, crafts, imaginative play, and board games. Their son is sociable, cheeky, and cuddly, and enjoys water play, puzzles, books, drawing and imaginative play with animals and cars. Both children love being outdoors, spending time in the garden and engaging in creative, sensory, hands-on activities.
The role will primarily involve sole charge care of the youngest child during the day whilst the eldest attends school, attentive care is required for both children simultaneously after school and during school holidays. The nanny will enjoy planning fun, engaging and developmentally appropriate activities including trips to local groups and classes, outdoor adventures, play-based learning and creative activities at home.
Core Duties: Duties will include helping the children get ready in the mornings, school drop-offs and pick-ups, taking the youngest child to activities such as swimming, playgroups or forest school, preparing healthy meals for the children, supporting the toddlers naps and daily routines, organising engaging play opportunities, managing bath time and helping the household run smoothly. Light family laundry would also be very much appreciated when time allows.
Candidate profile: A safe and confident driver with a full UK driving licence is required and somebody open to cycling a cargo bike around Cambridge would be highly desirable. A car can be available for the nanny to use whilst on duty and free on street parking is available.
The ideal candidate will be gentle, organised and experienced caring for young children, with a calm and confident approach to childcare. Previous experience caring for two young children simultaneously is essential. The family would especially love to find somebody French-speaking due to their bilingual household, although this is by no means mandatory.
The ideal candidate must hold, or be willing to obtain, a full Paediatric First Aid qualification, enhanced DBS check and be able to provide at least two recent contactable references. A good understanding of the EYFS framework and early childhood developmental milestones is desirable.
Candidates must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to become registered with Ofsted at the expense of the family.
